From 1am until dawn the Leonid Meteor Shower will be at its peak. "The best seats are in Asia, but North American observers should be treated to an above average performance of the Leonid meteor shower, weather permitting. The trick for all observers is to head outside in the wee hours of the morning - between 1 a.m. and dawn - regardless where you live.

"We're predicting 20 to 30 meteors per hour over the Americas, and as many as 200 to 300 per hour over Asia," said Bill Cooke of NASA's Meteoroid Environment Office. Other astronomers who work in the nascent field of meteor shower prediction have put out similar forecasts

Yes, if by influential you mean "negative" influence on life, society, and the world then I would agree with you.

I agree that St. Augustine was one of the most influential Catholics, and saints for that matter, of all time. Nevertheless, he did believe that people who engaged in the literature, drama, philosophy, politics, etc. of that time were indeed preventing themselves from entering into the "City of God." Before embracing the Faith and making it his own, he went through 3 years of struggle and spent much time studying philosophy, Neo-Platonism, and skepticism. Some may consider him to be one who "held back" the Enlightenment period causing a big rift in the acceptance of religions, faith, and scripture. However, I have to give him credit. Had he not done that, had he not attempted to go against the grain, it may have never prompted Aquinas to resolve the issues nor lead to his powerful conversion. St. Thomas Aquinas, another mastermind and revolutionary of the Faith, even said, "that for the knowledge of any truth whatsoever man needs divine help, that the intellect may be moved by God to its act." Therefore, I really do not consider him a "douche" (whatever that means) but, like you said, an INFLUENTIAL Catholic of our time.

Quite simply Augustine was the most influential Catholic of his time. One of his "doctrines" (for lack of a better term) dealt with his belief on the "City of Man" and the "City of God" (or as we'd probably call it... Heaven and Earth). And it is indeed because it is an age "of faith" that it become the dark ages. Augustine, to make it simple, believed that people who engaged in things that he would consider "The City of Man" were removing themselves from God's Grace and would not enter into the "City of God." Now while that included all the "sins" we know about it, Augustine also stated that literature, drama, philosophy, politics, etc were are examples of things that are the realm of the "city of man." There is a reason why during this time period there is a serious lack of Western learning, literature, art, etc. In addition the "divine right of kings" is never challenged and any attempt of liberalizing politics is held back for a century. Aquinas helps resolved this issue in his works. There's a reason why the scientific revolution, the renaissance and the enlightenment come after Aquinas lays down his philosophy. So yeah, that's why he is a douche. J Raz, I know. That's why I said "western" civilization. There is a reason why in your Art History class, the emphasis during this time shifts to the Islamic world.

A one-liter car? This moniker describes a car that uses one liter of fuel?about a quarter of a gallon?to propel a car for 100 kilometers, or 62 miles. The one-liter car?s fuel economy translates to almost 240 mpg, and VW has had such a car in its sights for some time now. In 2002, outgoing VW CEO Ferdinand Piëch, now head of the company?s supervisory board, drove a cigar-shaped prototype from VW headquarters in Wolfsburg to a shareholders? meeting in Hamburg.
Now the idea of the one-liter car has been resurrected. VW?s biggest news at the Frankfurt auto show was the L1 concept, a prototype that "is close to production" and "will be developed," the company says. Three ingredients were needed to make it happen: a supremely efficient powertrain, great aerodynamics, and lightweight engineering.
As to the powertrain, VW has opted for a two-cylinder, 39-hp turbo-diesel engine combined with a 14-hp electric motor. There is a stop/start system and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The L1 can reach 100 mph, but fuel economy at that speed drops to a shameful 1.38 liters per 100 kilometers, or 170 mpg.
The front-wheel-drive L1?s aerodynamics are optimized by the two-seat layout with the occupants sitting in a row. The result is a car that is relatively long, quite low, and extremely slim. The monocoque and body is made of carbon fiber, and total weight of the L1 is a mere 838 pounds. We think that the seating configuration will likely be changed as development progresses; two people sitting behind each other is too unusual for prospective buyers.
Even so, the L1 looks refined and close to series production, which couldn?t be said of the 2002 concept. It could be on the market as soon as 2013, Volkswagen sources tell us. The L1 may seem ironic to those who remember that VW is also responsible for Bugatti, which makes the fastest production car in the world, the Bugatti Veyron, and which just unveiled the W-16 Galibier sedan concept. But if you think about the styles of both Piëch and current VW chairman Martin Winterkorn, this contradiction seems logical: These guys both tend to go to extremes. And we submit that the Volkswagen L1 is a more significant step in saving resources than are heavy gasoline-electric hybrids.

the melbourne recital centre & MTC theatre are two of the most recent projects by the australian firm
ashton raggatt mcdougall. while the buildings operate separately, they are connected together on the
same block in the city?s arts district. on the left side is the melbourne theatre company and on the right
is the melbourne recital centre.

the MTC theatre features a distinctive facade composed of white steel tubing arranged in geometric
patterns that appears three-dimensional when viewed from the right angle. it was designed to look
best at night and has a simple black and white colour palette accented with a vibrant red. inside the
geometric pattern is continued through the lobby space. the theatre itself features perforated walls
that are backlit to reveal a text motif.

the melbourne recital centre on the right is a larger building featuring a two level recital hall and
a smaller performance space. the building?s façade is white with an inscribed cell-like pattern that is
repeated in the honeycomb glass window. the exterior was also inspired by packaging design,
drawing references to packing foam. the recital hall is stands out with its wood paneled wall and
ceiling. the design was specifically engineered for the highest possible sound quality and still
manages to display a macro wood grain pattern.

Viva la Revolucion, next year is 200 years (1810-2010)!!!!! I say this keeping in mind most people who think they are revolutionaries today are ones who really can't get outside of their own box..."the strong move quiet, the weak start riots"
